I’m exhausted from lack of sleep
My hands are swollen and sore
My neck, back, and arms ache
I’m neglecting family and friends
I’ve become addicted to the Wii.
This is why I haven’t been around. I have recognized that I have a problem. I hit rock bottom when I started arguing with my kids about whose turn it was and sneaking on every chance I could get. I spent hours upon hours playing and became irritable when interrupted.
It was bad.
But I have quit cold turkey and have not played the Wii for two days. Actually, I had to quit. My hands are so painful that I don’t think I could hold the remotes. This is the one time that I’m thankful that I suffer from TMB (Too Many Birthdays). My aging body doesn’t have the stamina.
I am suffering minor withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia because I lie awake thinking about how Mario needs to collect more stars to save Princess Peach.
I avoid going into a room where there is a Wii to avoid temptation.
With rest and the loving support of family and friends I should be back to my old self soon.

Jake keeps asking when we can go back to the Wii house. He too is addicted, you saw the tears….we just left a house that had guitar hero, he looked so cute doing that, too bad I kicked his hiney ’cause I’m a rocker chick.

Man O Man, I got mine for my birthday in July… I have played maybe four times… usually I have to give up my controller to my kids, or my hubby’s friends so he can show off MY toy… UGH…
I could become too addicted to it. We got our daughter Big Brain Academy for her birthday and I’ll admit I played it for two hours the night before we gave it to her “just to test it out” HA! I have to forget its there…
Anyone tried “Dancing with the Stars” for the Wii? I’m afraid that game would be my downfall…
(Boxing against your hubby rocks by the way!)

That is why I can’t get one.
I swear I threw out my back wii boxing at the neighbors.
If that doesn’t make me a dork -well, I’m not sure what would!

I’m addicted to Zelda. I played for four hours yesterday. The kids wanted to play, but I shooed them away. Today I told them I’d wait to play until after they go to bed. I plan to put them to bed early.

My boys got a Wii for Christmas as well and I have been avoiding it like the plague. I still remember the Great Donkey Kong 64 Addiction quite vividly (although someone told me that I can now download the Nintendo 64 games on the Wii. If that happens, I may never be heard from again!)

LOL. HEY ME TOO!!
Santa left us the wii for Christmas and I am addicted to guitar hero. I love it. I stink but I love it. I keep telling the kids ok mommy gets one more turn then you can play.
Have fun in the new year. Just think of the exercise the wii gives you.

I think I may be headed down that same path my friend.
And all I’ve played is tennis.
Is it possible to get tennis elbow from the Wii?

Ah - so that’s where you’ve been. I resolved long ago that video games are the devil. Lot’s of valuable time gets wasted and I refuse to play them anymore. I figure if I’m going to waste time doing nothing around the house, give me a book or some yarn and knitting needles. So glad to see you recognized you need help, my dear.

I feel your pain. We don’t have a Wii and I think I’m glad. I’m bad enough about playing games on the PS2.
Maybe we could start a support group. :o)

LMAO.. that is SO addicting.. I want one too though. I think its a great revolution in the game world. I truly believe that it is FINALLY something to bring the family together instead of send them to their own rooms, or in a quiet corner alone neglecting the world to be by them selves and play. More power to you! and just think of the muscles you are getting!

So what you’re saying is we should be glad we didn’t cave and get one ?
Well if you’re that addicted…then that tells me that WII kicks more ass then I ever thought and thus I must run out and get one now .

ROFL!
I’ve heard that thing is addicting. So far, we don’t have one. But things could change. And at least I’d only have to fight the hubby for a turn.

We don’t own one, but I’ve heard it’s awesome and addicting. Daughter plays guitar hero at a friend’s house…or she did until she started playing better than he did.

I watched my daughter and nephew play it on Christmas day (he got it from Santa) and then the hubbies had to get up there to box each other… just watching them made me exhausted so I totally understand your absense!

Well, at least you recognized you have a problem. heehee.
Admitting is the first step, right?
Am so itching to get one tho!

I am pea green… We’re way behind and just bought a PS2, which is fine with me, but now I’m just as addicted to the Sims’ games. Years ago when we first bought the old Playstation, I sat for 12 hours playing Mortal Kombat 3.. I beat the game with every character. My thumbs were blistered and my back was sore, but by golly I beat the game…12 times…

Recognizing that you’re addicted is the first step!
I know what you mean - I got hooked playing a darn Harry Potter game a while back and had to cut myself off completely.
I’m only allowed a little Tetris a couple of times a week, AFTER all my work is done!

Wii addiction is a serious problem…so don’t fight it! It’s hopeless anyway. My mother-in-law gave one to my youngest daughter 9 months ago and I DO believe you can get tennis elbow from it. My problem seems to be my shoulders, though.
My kids gave ME Zelda and My Sims for my birthday. I’m looking forward to Mario Galaxy. I set up the game cube in my office and I’m in the middle of Paper Mario for that console. We also gave each of my girls a DS this Christmas, so our family is TOTALLY Nintendo.
It seems like all the other comments are from women, so I’ll go out on a limb and invite everyone over that doesn’t have one to play our Wii! I’m sure my wife would understand…she has Wii addiction, too.

I am to sucky in the coordination department to even attempt our Wii.
Which is sad considering the HOURS I spent freezing my heiny off last year to obtain it.
Sigh.

I held out as long as I could but finally got one for my kids about a month ago. The Wii’s already been grounded twice, with more to come, I’m sure.
Me? I’m hooked on StumbleUpon.

Good luck….if only I could find a Wii….I might know just how many stars are needed!

Hey, at least you could find one! We looked everywhere. The local Wal-Mart got 12 of them in one day and one guy bought 8. I’m sure to sell on eBay for a ridiculous profit. There should be a law against that. My family is Wii-less. LOL
I’m sure there will be a 12-step program for Wii addicts. I hear it is like video game crack.

I pretend we don’t have video games in the house because of the children - but it’s me. I had to sell my SIMS collection because I wouldn’t sleep before 2 am when I had it.

LOL………..Do you know that using a Wii is a healthy option in regards to video games?
I blogged about it, http://www.iowaavenue.com/profiles/blog/show?id=774881%3ABlogPost%3A2782
But, a little of Wii can go a long way. Just slow down and take it easy………….:)
