   It’s absolutely insane! I feel really sad about it, and then also really angry towards her support system (or lack thereof) at home. It’s obvious that there is a severe chasm here between parent and child and also a series of horrible role models in her life (no need to mention them, but… Britney namely). It’s really a shame.

   And, I was flabbergasted to see the story broadcast to me in our office building’s elevator news reel. Like there aren’t more important stories to cover!

   I was very surprised when I saw that last night. Mr. Honeybell (insensitive ass) immediately said “Just like her big sister”. But no, I see a huge difference. Jaime Lynn Spears hasn’t been dressing like a streetwalker since the age of 15, there are no drug rumors, etc. Now If I were told that any other 16 year old girl were having sex, no big surprise. What IS surprising to me is that she evidently wasn’t using effective birth control. In the long run, I’m guessing Jaime Lynn’s kid will have a more stable life than her sister’s kids have so far. Sad.

   Depending what source you read, one said that she “was in complete and total shock about it”. Umm, didn’t you, like know, like that if you have like sex, that like you risk the chance of like getting pregnant. I mean Oh my gosh! duh Sorry if I sound bitter and nonsupporting but that excuse is a wee bit old to this old lady.

   Did you also read the mother had a parenting book gig in the works and it’s been put on hold? Ya think?

   I wish they would all go back to whatever bum-fck place they came from and stay there and not ever be in the news again ever.

   They are a sad sad bunch.

   Can you believe it? I was writing an article today about how Britney is selling her clothes on eBay (probably also for attention) and saw the news about Jamie. What is up with that family? My first thought, “Their parents must be so proud.”

   I think it’s sad but unfortunately I think it’s so a sign of the times as a whole. That girl from Whale Rider was like 17, and there are a TON of celebs pregnant. What about Lily Allen being pregnant after dating her boyfrien for all of 5 months?

   I think her parents were probably so worried over Britney they weren’t paying attention to the “good daughter” which is even more sad. Poor kids.

   I don’t know if it was a publicity stunt or not. It may be better to get it out there now and not wait until she’s 4 or 5 months along and say, “Oh, by the way.”

   It is very sad - especially because she is a role model for so many young girls. But she does seem to be handling it all better than her sister. Time will tell, though, if she’s really as different from Brittney as she appears to be.

   Whatever the case, I’m glad my daughter isn’t a fan.

    I heard an interesting theory about all this yesterday…
    Remember all the pregnancy rumors about Britney’s alleged #3? One of my friends believes that a medical “professional” who was involved in the practice where Little Spears had her test assumed it was Britney with a positive pregnancy test and started leaking that story.

    When Little Spears and Company realized that she was about to be “outed,” she and her people came out with the story first. If you break the story, you control the message. Interesting theory that has a good chance of being correct.

    However, that still doesn’t explain what a 16 year old celebrity (and sister of a total screw up) is doing having unprotected sex. Certainly, she can afford condoms on her salary.

    Can I tell you that I had to have a semi- birds and the bees conversation with The Princess because of this GIRL! I know that was coming anyway….but to have to discuss sex with a 9 year old because of a Spears girl….THAT does not make me happy!

    All I can say is she BETTER not be working for Nickelodeon anymore….or else that channel will fall silent in the Mayhem! UGH!

    I completely agree with “Queen of the Mayhem”! Do you think I want to discuss this with my 9 year old son??? NO WAY! He is definitely NOT ready for “that” discussion! What am I supposed to say to him? I am sick about the whole thing. The sad part is…I don’t think the Spear’s family realized this isn’t ALL ABOUT THEM! It affects ALL of our kids. Publicity stunt or not…the whole thing is completely disgusting! The media is making it worse! There are way more important issues that we should be discussing. Ms. Spears has NO business writing a book about parenting!
